Sessions
Sessions are classes that run randomly for six consecutive weeks. They happen one time per week and each class is 45 minutes in length. There are normally multiple sessions offered during the same time frame but they are held on different days of the week and during different times of the day. Classes may be offered in the mornings, afternoons, or evenings. Sessions are intended for two year olds, three and four year olds, adults, and private organizations/groups.
Recreational Classes
The recreational program is designed to promote fun and fitness in an enthusiastic and up-beat setting. Classes focus on personal health and wellness through creative choreography, musicality, and self-expression. While technique remains an important aspect of the recreational program, these classes focus on developing life skills as well. Through encouragement and positive reinforcement, students build self-esteem, confidence, leadership abilities, and team spirit.
The recreational program is suggested for the student, who enjoys dance and physical activity, but who is not ready for, or possibly not interested in, becoming a competitive performer at this time. In most cases, students under the age of seven are not mature enough for the required skill set that is needed to be a competitive dancer. For the older student (7 & up), who is spending more than two hours a week training, he/she may be ready for the competitive challenge and the critique that comes from a judging panel.
All students finish the recreational year by showcasing their talents, in costume, at the In Sequins… Studio of Dance Year-End Recitals. The recitals are formal performances that require the purchase of tickets to attend. The recitals are held annually on the first Saturday and Sunday of May at Griffin Park Theatre in Brooks. All students are required to perform in both performances.
